The Upper Explosive Limit (UEL) is the maximum percent by volume of a gas which, when mixed with air at normal temperature and pressure, will form an explosive/flammable mixture. At concentrations above the UEL the fuel has displaced so much air that there is not enough oxygen to begin a reaction. See also LEL.
