The special feature of the gasworld November issue is forensic science and the gases industry from Linde. The article talks about how the research & development and technology evolution in gas analysis is benefiting the field of forensics and how specialty gases are supporting sample testing. A new technology announced by Linde recently regarding a dry gaseous process, capable of developing latent fingerprints on a wide range of porous and non-porous materials is also included. The most used analytical tools GC-MS and LC-MS are not only for criminal applications, but also used to screen for contaminates in food & drugs. Such analytical tools require high quality specialty gases for instrument operation & calibration. The high demands on gas purity place rigorous requirements on associated equipment like regulators & valves.
