“Sweeping changes for emissions control and monitoring”, an article by Linde Gas, was published in July issue of Glass Worldwide magazine.
The glass Industry’s challange to comply with tight emission limit values (ELV) that are enforced by industry specific Best Available Technology Reference (BREF) documents under the IED (Industrial Emissions Directive) will be a driver for the market to maintain its focus on environmental emission monitoring and reduction, notably in Europe and also worldwide.
Float glass production facilities, and other large glass melters, are becoming increasingly required to monitor and control emissions by environmental regulations in order to reduce environmental pollutants such as CO2, oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and SO2 as much of the impact for emissions to air will be focused on those.
Apart from emission monitoring, emission reduction is also a big challange for the industry. Industrial gases and gas applications can play an important role to overcome these challenges. Linde Gas application technologies seek to generate those conditions most favourable for emissions reduction. An interesting example in that case is Linde’s COROX® LowNOx with its staged combustion and flue gas recirculation for NOx reduction.
The trend for stricter environmental regulations will go on and the need for industries to improve production processes in terms of emissions will gain even more importance in management decisions.
