Solvent & VOC monitoring

In chemicals, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries solvents with low vapour pressures are used. Due to their low vapour pressure they evaporate very fast into our environment. With the increasing environmental awareness VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) emissions control is high on the global agenda nowadays. In order to reduce VOC emissions for environmental benefits and recover valuable solvents for economic benefits, the emission levels of VOCs need to be monitored and measured. VOC can be some of the most difficult environmental pollutants to identify and measure. 

Such measurements require dedicated analytical instruments such as GC-MS (Gas Chromatography – Mass spectrometry). HiQ high purity gases and gas mixtures play a vital role in the operation and calibration of these instruments. High purity helium, nitrogen and hydrogen can be used as carrier gases in GC-MS, and a range of high accuracy gas mixtures can be used in instrumentation calibration.
