Linde participates in global mercury emissions control strategy development

Stephen Mandel, Head of Environmental and Calibration Products for Linde North America represented The Linde Group at the 7th International Workshop on Mercury Emissions from Coal (MEC7), June 2010 in Glasgow, UK.

MEC7 was organized by the IEA CCC (International Energy Agency Clean Coal Centre) and supported by the David Livingstone Centre for Sustainability at Strathclyde University. IKIMP (Integrating Knowledge to Inform Mercury Policy) from Oxford and UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) from Geneva facilitated the interaction of the invited experts representing power generation utilities, government bodies, research institutes and other industries. The discussions focused on how they can work together to address the environmental issue of monitoring and controlling mercury emissions from coal combustion.

There were over 80 attendees representing more than 20 countries. Previous meetings of the MEC group have been held in Australia, Japan, Slovenia, Poland and Canada. MEC8 is scheduled to be held in South Africa in 2011 and The Linde Group will again be represented to influence and support the decision making process to improve our environment for future generations.
